I will never forget watching my mother selling sunglasses in the rain. She and my father had a relentless drive to succeed, provide for the family and put food on the table. They taught me everything about perseverance, hard work and being adaptable. 

I always try to do the right thing when it comes to running a business. I choose love over personal gain.

The path I am on now is not one I ever saw myself being on, but I did not give up and I never will. 

In spite of having a blessed but incredibly busy home life, I’ve created two businesses centered around providing birth-related support to families.

Be honest with yourself and the people around you. It doesn’t have to be unkind but it needs to be real. People will appreciate you more for that. 

One year from today, I hope that I am still on a journey to continuously find healing for the things that get in the way of me being a present, connected parent as often as possible.

I aim to live every day of my life to bring glory to God, bring others closer to Him and bring myself into deeper relationship with Him. 

I hope I grow less certain and more intrigued. I hope I am more awake to the world and to life. I hope wonder expands in me.

One year from today I hope to be different by fully believing the healed version of me. What that means to me is walking into the fullness of what God is doing in my life without fear. 

Honestly, I just hope I can continue to be a source of comfort and support to those who need it. I’m very content with who I am. 

I’m most proud when I’m able to make a positive impact, no matter how big or small. As a first generation Mexican immigrant with a college degree I’m proud of the work I’ve put in to get to where I am.

Being a mom, wife, advocate and a church servant isn’t easy but everything I do, I do it with love. I love to serve others and just be present for those in need. 

Learning to love myself has been the biggest obstacle in my life. Knowing I am enough just as I am has also been very hard in the past.

One year from now I hope I am more confident, self-assured and peaceful in knowing and serving in my purpose. This seems to have been my lifetime hope and still a work in progress. 

It is absolutely okay to ask for help so that you can focus on the aspects of work and life that only you can do.

Losing one of my senses was a devastating experience, and one that I had to work through while simultaneously raising small children and building a career for myself.

I am so much better at loving myself than I used to be, but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t still something I struggle with at different points in time. 

I have a passion for helping people. Now working with drug court participants, it gives me great joy to see the light come on for a person who has struggled with addiction like I did. 

I’ve lived through things that broke me and I put myself back together and made beauty from the ashes I was left in. 

This might sound too idealistic, but I wish people would remember everyone is a human being with their own unique story. I find myself discouraged by the polarized society we live in, especially when I see people in our community at odds over certain issues.
