Courtney Hedrick Harrell

What makes Courtney Wildly Capable?

“Courtney is a wonderful business woman, friend and mom. She successfully runs two businesses well, she is smart and is always willing to help others learn! She is a mentor at my brokerage and loves helping new agents build their businesses.” ASHLEY SCHUBERT

What makes you feel proud?

I feel proud when I see my kids make difficult decisions with grace and kindness and when they are willing to help others with a smile. I am proud of myself for never giving up on my dreams of owning a bridal boutique, becoming a licensed real estate agent and getting my bachelor’s degree, all while being a single parent of three at the time.

Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?

My grandma was a huge influence in my life. She always made me feel seen, heard and loved no matter what I did. She taught me it is okay to feel upset, hurt, angry, happy, excited and joyful, but to never let those emotions stop me from moving forward. Embrace them and, if needed, create a new path.

What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?

Honestly, I have been my biggest obstacle. Getting out of my own head and taking risks is one of the scariest things in the world to me. I sometimes find it hard to be who I want to be when it feels counterintuitive to who I thought I should be. Breaking out of roles that are taught and reinforced through media and other outside sources, is one of the hardest things to overcome, but it is definitely worth the work.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

That it is absolutely okay to ask for help so that you can focus on the aspects of work and life that only you can do. It is hard to do this when the world around us is constantly telling us to hustle more, but in reality we need time to focus on the important aspects of our life. We also need time to rest and take care of our own mind, body and soul. It is also amazing to reach out to people who love and excel at the things I don’t and acknowledge them for their unique skills, especially if they are a local business.
