Hundred Magazine aims to answer a question:
What if we celebrated a woman’s character as much as we do her accomplishments?
When I pick up a list of “powerful” or “top” women today, I see pages of women celebrated for their title and influence. Perhaps the publishers want us to feel like if we try hard enough, someday we, too, can be bank executives or married to wealthy men. But when my daughter picks up a list of “top” women someday, I want it to be ones with true character, not just title.
I want them to have names she can’t pronounce. I want them to look different from her. I want their stories to show her she is valued for who she is more than what she does. The problem? Nobody is making that list (at least that I can find). So I’m starting one now in hopes that by the time she’s old enough to pick up the lists, she’ll feel wildly capable of doing great things.
