What makes you feel proud?
Seeing projects continue to thrive after I’ve moved on. I love watching the structure and systems I’ve helped create bring long-term success. I founded and led a middle and high school for international refugees and have helped entrepreneurs move from a brilliant idea to an operational business. With each new opportunity, I combine a thorough consideration of the end-user experience with my ability to execute efficiently.
Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?
My daughter, Averi. She’s had a lot of hard in life, but she courageously chooses to face it and feel it. She’s taught me so much about fighting for what truly matters, leaning into hard and uncomfortable places, setting and holding boundaries to honor ourselves and having fun in everyday moments.
What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?
I’ve had hard things that could be an answer to this question. But I think the most honest answer is not believing in myself. I’ve held myself back more than any circumstance or hardship. Resisting the voice inside that tells me all the reasons something won’t work out, or I can’t do it, or I’m not qualified is a challenge. Rewriting that narrative has been my biggest obstacle.
One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?
I hope curiosity has invaded judgments I hold now. I hope I grow less certain and more intrigued. I hope I am more awake to the world and to life. I hope wonder expands in me. I hope I am more rooted in my worth apart from any contributions I make to the world.
