What keeps you up at night?
Honestly... my middle child coming in our bedroom because he needs to go potty.
Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?
There are too many to name! But my life and leadership have been shaped very much by the books and teachings of Pete and Geri Scazzero. I also very much admire Michelle Obama. Her book Becoming was so impactful for me.
What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?
Myself. Learning to be okay with my own weakness and not expecting perfection is something I deal with often.
One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?
I hope I am a little more disciplined and a little more patient. I also want to grow as a communicator and writer.
What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?
Access to high-quality education regardless of income or ethnicity! I lead the charge for a phenomenal classical school on the south side of OKC as the Head of School. This school is philanthropically-funded which alleviates the financial burden from parents, making it wildly accessible to low-income families and people of color. I launched this school four years ago with an incredible team of city leaders and pastors.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
In marriage, the husband and wife have the power to create the biggest wounds or be the biggest champions for one another. Be careful that you speak only the words that you want to keep around, because they will stay around.
