What keeps you up at night?
The thing that keeps me up at night most often is a really good book. I’m a huge nerd about reading. I read 150+ books a year. When I’m reading a good book, I just can’t stop. Of course, I’m also a mom, so worrying about my kids keeps me up at night. It’s pretty much my full-time job.
Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?
My children are hands down the biggest influences in my life. I want to model a strong, successful woman for them. I want them to know they can do and learn anything if they set their minds to it and work hard enough. I want them to see someone who loves and supports them fiercely and certainly, but who also never compromises her own goals and dreams outside of our family in the process.
What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?
I’m my biggest obstacle. I always feel like there’s something greater or more that I should be doing. I don’t just want to live a life. I want to make an impact. As a result, I’m rarely satisfied and always pushing for what’s next. I’m still not totally sure what I’m going to be when I grow up. But as they say, I know I wasn’t just put here to pay bills and die.
One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?
I hope I’m even more confident and secure in being 100% me. Age has contributed a lot to this journey, but there’s always room for growth and improvement. I’m a work in progress, so chances are I’ll be a lot different in a year than I am today.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Don’t be that person who just complains. Make a difference or make a plan. Solve the problem or remove yourself from the situation causing it.
