Kayla Jeffers
What makes you feel proud?
Being present for my son and helping others who struggled with the same things I did. I have broken a strong generational curse of addiction. I struggled with heroin addiction for seven years and in that time I lived a very broken life. Today, I am celebrating three years of sobriety, I have completed two incredible programs, I am a board member of a program that helps women, I am a certified peer recovery support specialist, I serve at church and I work at a non-profit that helps people find housing. I am working toward an associate degree and I am a present mom. It took a lot of hard work, but I love my life today and I am proud of where I am.
What keeps you up at night?
Knowing that there are so many lost people out there who just need a loving friend to walk with them.
Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?
My grandparents because they set the tone for how loving people should live. They inspire me to be more loving to others and to be more like Jesus.
What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?
My own insecurities, knowing that I threw so much of my life away and now I’m having to start completely over.
One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?
I hope I’ve made an impact in more lives and I hope I’m more confident in my ability to impact someone’s life.
