Cynthia Benson

Connector, mom, volunteer, Sunday school teacher and school board member are just a few of the titles Cynthia carries. Her nominator says what makes her truly exceptional is the way she walks in sacrificial servanthood through all of them.

What keeps you up at night?

I have seen first-hand some of the challenges our local students and families navigate. I want to do my due diligence of educating myself on issues and considering from as many angles as possible how the decisions I make as a school board member will impact people. Unfortunately, rarely does the decision made make everybody happy. My mind has a hard time shutting down at night because I want to find the best solution.

Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?

My husband is my biggest influence. We have been married for 30 years. He is a steady, hard-working, faith-led man who loves his family well. He has been my biggest supporter and encourager.

One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?

I want to grow in knowledge and continue being a lifelong learner, growing in compassion and empathy toward others is important to loving people God brings into my path.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

“Keep on keeping on.” Regardless of the circumstance, keep getting up and spending time in God’s word and talking with God. God is rich in wisdom, compassion, love, grace, guidance and forgiveness.
