Mandi Briggs
Her life goal is to leave people better than she found them, and Mandi’s soaring at it. She’s unlocked the secret to learning through experience and is sharing it with as many other women she can.
What keeps you up at night?
Honestly, nothing. I’m good at letting things go at the end of the day knowing I've done my best at the time. However, I often fall asleep thinking how unfortunate it is that others are so caught up in their minds and don’t know how to turn it off. Learning to let go of my thoughts and trust that everything will work out has served me well. I’m able to get out of my head and back into my body easily and I genuinely wish others could experience that peace.
Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?
As odd as this may sound, my ex-husband has been a big influence in my life. Had things not occurred in our marriage just as they did, I wouldn’t be who I am today. And I really like her! I’m grateful to him for showing me what I didn’t want so I could find the courage to go after what I did want. He was the catalyst to me finding my voice, discovering my dreams and being brave enough to do hard things.
What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?
My own fear has always been my biggest obstacle. While fear tried to stop me in my tracks on many occasions, I persevered. Every time fear would come up, I leaned in. Rather than seeing it as an obstacle, I learned to befriend my fear. It’s often a sign I’m on the right track. When I get out of my own way, incredible things tend to happen.
“Imagine a world where we treated ourselves with love, compassion and grace.”
What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?
Hands down, negative self talk. Imagine a world where we treated ourselves with love, compassion and grace. We cannot give to others what we don't first give to ourselves. If we learned to curb the negative inner critic, I truly believe our communities would be better for it.
