Kristin Garcia

Working from the ground up, Kristin is helping to build the communities and infrastructure to support the next generation of entrepreneurs in Oklahoma City.

What makes you feel proud?

I'm proud when I see entrepreneurs thrive from relationships I built and when new businesses are successful. I'm also proud of the local tech community for the work they've done over the past three years and seeing the changes in our community and education.

What keeps you up at night?

Helping others find funding to make change and impact. I know the past few years have been hard and I want to help people earn the living they deserve. I also want to make sure we're creating ways to help all tech talent and entrepreneurs feel included in programs and resources.

Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?

My brother, Anthony, is a huge influence for pushing me and getting me involved in entrepreneurship at a high growth level. He's a combat Veteran of the U.S. Army, and he's been through a lot. That also ties back to my parents and their influence in putting community first.

One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?

I’m learning so much and I hope I’m making less mistakes this time next year. I have people around me teaching me a lot about decision-making and I hope to be able to teach younger professionals what I’m learning.

What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?

I want to start a business, what do I do? We hear that a lot. I'm working with a team of ecosystem builders on mapping out the journey business owners can take to have a clear, understandable road map to business ownership.

“I'm proud when I see entrepreneurs thrive from relationships I built and when new businesses are successful.”

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Ask for help. There's always somebody with more knowledge who will help you.
