Juliana Lopez

Using her passion for connecting others, Juliana aims to bring more opportunities to the Latinx community in Oklahoma City.

What makes you feel proud?

I feel proud when I hear that people made genuine connections through an event I hosted or found a new favorite store or restaurant through my community. I also feel proud when I see some of my most constant supporters start their own businesses and movements because they feel inspired by what I do.

What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?

Underrepresentation comes to mind first. I want to see the incredible people in the Latinx community get the same level of recognition and be at the same tables as so many other amazing leaders in the larger OKC community. I want to help open doors and keep them open for my friends and community leaders.

“Comparison truly is the thief of joy and no matter what field you work in there is nobody who is doing it like you are. There are many things to worry about in a day, but someone else’s work is not one of them.”

One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?

I hope I’m more patient and empathetic. At times these qualities can get buried under the stress and anxiety that comes along with running a business and, ya know, going through a pandemic, being a 25 year old still trying to figure things out and just living life. I’m glad I have people in my life who will call me out and help me work on getting better every day!

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Your authenticity will always shine through. Comparison truly is the thief of joy and no matter what field you work in there is nobody who is doing it like you are. There are many things to worry about in a day, but someone else’s work is not one of them.
