Jen Semmler

If it was hard to run a business in a pandemic while homeschooling kids, Jen didn’t show it. Always level-headed and gracious, she strives to provide the very best experience to customers and is never afraid to try big things, even if they fail.

Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?

I would probably have to say that Chad (my husband) is probably the biggest one to date. Regardless if I listen/take his advice (because we disagree on so many levels!), what he has to say and what he chooses to do at Stitch influences what I do in life and at Plant Shoppe.

What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?

I think both personal and professionally, navigating through the pandemic has been the biggest obstacle in life. Days when we didn’t even know what tomorrow looked like, being afraid the business wouldn’t survive and I’d have to find a new job .... Yeah, definitely the pandemic.

“…If I could solve the problem of the general lack of kindness in the community, preaching for everyone to be kind, loving on all of their neighbors, that would be awesome.”

One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?

I hope that I am able to not feel guilty about making time for myself.

What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?

There are so many problems and I know that I am not enough to solve them. But if I could solve the problem of the general lack of kindness in the community, preaching for everyone to be kind, loving on all of their neighbors, that would be awesome.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

My Mom has always told me, “Choose your battles.”
