Christina Jester Phillips

She had to fight for the life she wanted after 21 years as an addict, but now Christina uses her experience to help others on their own journey to recovery.

What keeps you up at night?

Everything used to keep me up at night in my active addiction but since I have been delivered from the desire to use or drink, I actually sleep very well at night! Because I know that there is nothing I can do in the time of rest and that I just need to surrender everything at Jesus Christ’s feet and look to him for the outcome!

What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?

My biggest obstacle in my active addiction was my self-worth! I still struggle with it daily, but I do have the truth of the gospel and now all of my self-worth is in Jesus Christ! So I never have to feel that way again!

“We all should not be judged by our past but by the future that we take and with each baby step.”

What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?

One of my biggest drives through this whole journey of recovery and self discovery is that I really want to help with establishing second chance employers for all people with issues prior to their life changes. We all should not be judged by our past but by the future that we take and with each baby step.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

This is the advice that I give many: You are already waiting, you might as well wait in God’s will! And when you are going through whatever process or program that you are in to get healthy in recovery, don’t rush the process because it is the shortest amount of time for the rest of your life!
