What makes you feel proud?

I feel proud when I am able to help someone see something greater in themselves or can affirm strengths in someone. I also feel proud watching the students I serve as they continue to grow and become beautiful individuals. They are just amazing little humans!

What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?

I believe the biggest obstacle in my life has been the fight of knowing my value and worth. Believing in myself and my capabilities and loving every version of myself. It is an ongoing battle but one I will conquer some day!

One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?

One year from today I hope I have grown in grace toward myself. I hope I will be on a new and beautiful journey in life, whatever that may look like. Whether it is starting a family with my husband or finding a new hobby I enjoy.

What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?

I would love to help build and encourage healthy communication and relationships between parents and children. I truly believe every parent is doing the best with what they have. Whether it is healthy or unhealthy for the household, they are doing what they know. I would love to help cultivate healthy relationships and secure attachment in children (and even adults because it is never too late) so that our community can thrive as emotionally healthy individuals.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Something I try to practice when I am struggling with my feelings toward a person or situation is to pray for my own heart to be changed, rather than for them or the circumstance to be changed. We can’t control other people or outcomes but I can control how I respond. I have experienced many moments of peace when there was unrest by practicing this!
