What makes you feel proud?
I feel most proud when I look back at how far I’ve come to get where I’m at today. I’m in a better headspace at 36 than I’ve ever been and it’s a powerful feeling. I’ve spent a lot of time breaking old thought patterns that don’t serve me over the last few years and I’ve had many challenging situations that tested my character in my early 30s. I had to learn who I am and who I am not. I’ve learned to rely on myself more, believe in myself and get out of my own way. There will always be those in your life who doubt you but believing in yourself will get you where you want to be. I am proud of how resilient and capable I am in achieving something when I set my mind to it.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. I truly believe this and I am working everyday on making my mental space a great place to live in!
What keeps you up at night?
I’m usually out like a light! But if I am struggling to fall asleep it’s usually anxiety about the day or days ahead. Particularly around a challenging work event coming up or a big trip I’m preparing for. I get anticipatory anxiety. Also I worry too much about what others think of me. I can dwell on situations that didn’t go the way I would have hoped and I have perfectionist tendencies. I don’t like to disappoint others and let people down.
What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?
I would love for people to truly take the time to get to know themselves on a deeper level and treat themselves with care (mind, body and soul). This includes healing their past wounds and nourishing their bodies with healthy foods and exercise to allow the best version of themselves to transpire. If everyone feels healthy inside and out and are fulfilled within themselves, it will lead to a richer healthier community at large.
