What makes you feel proud?

I feel proud when my kids are extraordinarily kind to others.

What keeps you up at night?

Worrying about my kids— the choices they face, the decisions they make, the lessons I’ve passed along, the values I hope I instill. On the flip side, planning an elaborate vacation to Italy & Greece (someday!) also keeps me awake at night.

“In our house, if you’ve committed, you give it your all—even if you don’t feel like it—because others are counting on you.”

One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?

I hope I make a point of sleeping in past 5 a.m. There’s really no reason to get up that early. If I can’t get everything done between the hours of 7-10, then I’m trying to do too much.

Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?

Whether positive or negative, different people have been powerful influences on me at various times of my life, for multiple reasons. My husband and his uncompromising work ethic is a huge influence on our family right now. In our house, if you’ve committed, you give it your all—even if you don’t feel like it—because others are counting on you. The generosity, vibrancy, and laughter of my Dad has always been a model for “live life to the fullest.” My children! My oldest son’s perseverance in overcoming physical obstacles reminds me that we all have a purpose. My daughter’s self-confidence inspires me to love and extend grace to myself. My youngest son’s open expression of emotion is a strong influence in voicing my own.
