What makes Christie Wildly Capable?

Christie is one of the most inspiring and intelligent women I know. She serves as secretary for the OCCC Board of Regents and has invested a great deal of her time in ensuring OCCC continues to prosper and grow through the years. What makes you feel proud?

I completed my MS and PhD in biostatistics while helping my husband start his CPA firm, raising our children, and helping care for our aging family members. I am honored to have been appointed to the OCCC Board of Regents and given the opportunity to help make a difference in the lives of students, faculty, and staff. At the end of the day, I am proud feeling like I have made a positive difference in my little world.

What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?

My father worked for an oilfield supply company. As a result, I lived in three states and eight towns growing up. I had to learn how to fit into many different communities which had their own unique culture.

One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?

I hope I am growing old gracefully. That I am still making a positive impact on those around me and that I am able to continue giving back to my church and community.

What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?

I would like to find a solution to homelessness. I understand it is a multi-factorial problem and not easily solved, but I feel every person should have shelter, food, and clothes. I also believe we should provide support services to assist re-entry into society.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Be kind to others and never give up on yourself.
