Dr. Mautra Staley Jones

Mautra tops a lot of lists for her professional achievements. While most days include leading others, handling operational issues, meeting deadlines, consulting on projects and attending board meetings, her favorite part of the day is picking up her kids from school.

One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?

One year from today I hope I am still on the path of serving and influencing at a much greater capacity. I sincerely hope the conviction, care and compassion that I lead with is stronger because Oklahoma citizens deserve my very best and are worth it!

What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?

I believe that education is the great equalizer and that demographics do not define one’s destiny. I would love to see more of our citizens pursue a higher education and attain a college degree.

“I believe that education is the great equalizer and that demographics do not define one’s destiny.”

What makes you feel proud?

I feel most proud of my role as a mother because I am shaping the lives of my children to become trailblazers in their own right. I feel incredibly proud to serve my community and state and help those most vulnerable because no one asks for their circumstances. Knowing that I work to impact future generations and change the trajectories of the many lives I serve is simply amazing and awe-inspiring. I’m proud of the family my husband, U.S. District Judge Bernard Jones II and I have created! Our children Bernard III, Kennedy Claire and Brendan Miles are amazing children that keep our lives full!
