What makes you feel proud?

I feel most proud of the fact that I was able to build something from the ground up without a formal education. In 2019 I had an idea to create a magazine for women of Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Women’s Journal. The task was great, being that I had not attended college for journalism, publishing, graphic design or anything remotely near the skill set I was about to take on. Now two published volumes later, I’m still learning every day and I’m still growing as the magazine grows. It has changed me tremendously and I know it has made an impact on so many women.

What keeps you up at night?

My dreams and ambitions! I am constantly brainstorming ideas for my work.

What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?

The biggest obstacle I have faced is my own self-doubting. A lot of times I deal with imposter syndrome and feeling inadequate due to my lack of formal education. But I then have to remind myself that I’m not alone in that, so many others feel the same way.

One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?

I really hope to have less social anxiety and to be able to make light of my social awkwardness rather than get frustrated by the embarrassment.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Tomorrow is a new day.
