What makes you feel proud?

I feel proud when I have spent time with someone and I know they are leaving that time feeling more whole or hopeful than when they arrived. Making the world incrementally better every day in whatever small way I can. Using my story of healing to help bring healing to others is the greatest gift. Seeing my daughters doing the same and looking for ways to serve others makes my heart want to explode!

Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?

My mom. She is kind, loving, patient, gentle and all the things I hope to be. A true reflection of Christ’s love. She walks through difficult seasons with grace and peace, while not taking her eyes off of the Lord.

One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?

I hope to be more fruitful. I want to be so anchored in Holy Spirit that my life is overflowing with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. I hope that the striving I have wrestled with most of my life has been completely uprooted from who I am and replaced with calm assurance.

What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?

My journey with divorce and single motherhood. I wrestled with my self-worth for as long as I can remember and going through a messy and complicated divorce seemed to validate all of the negative things I believed about myself. Beliefs that I was not pretty enough, not skinny enough, not talented enough, not skilled enough. Not enough of anything. Unlovable.

Working through all of the “not enough” feelings while navigating single motherhood and trying to provide the best possible life for my little girl was the hardest thing I have ever done. While walking through that season of healing, redemption and growth, my constant prayer was that I would be able to use my story to be a blessing to others walking through a similar season and to be a beacon of hope for those in the middle of a storm.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Give your best effort, but trust God with the outcome.
