Lynnae Bitting

In the process of building her own business, Lynnae is building a community of female entrepreneurs who can empower and encourage each other along their personal journeys.

What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?

Being deaf. Throughout my life, I have learned how to advocate for myself and also how to accommodate for myself. At times I have had to work two times as hard to prove myself in various situations, but I am persistent and I don’t stop until I achieve what I want to achieve. Social situations can be tricky but I continue to learn how to adapt and establish my boundaries.

One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?

I hope I am different in my response to certain situations—improving more and more on letting go of what I cannot control. Our minds are so powerful and how we train our brains to think has a huge impact in our day to day life.

“Disability is not a word in our family. I am able, more than able; sometimes my road may look a little different and that is okay.”

Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?

Both parents have a very strong work ethic I know I have modeled after. My Mom is so kind-hearted as she strives to see the good in everyone and the importance to give when you can. As I am deaf, they worked so hard to provide me with the best opportunities and never allowed me to make excuses for myself. Disability is not a word in our family. I am able, more than able; sometimes my road may look a little different and that is okay. I would not be where I am today if they did not invest in me the way they did from various speech classes to picking the best school district to move to.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

If you don’t ask, the answer is always no.
