Latasha Featherstone

When LaTasha learned to play “Amazing Grace” on the piano at 7 years old with no instruction, she knew she had a future as a performer. She just didn’t realize she would also be cheering on another generation of men and women to follow their passions, too.

What makes you feel proud?

My children, family, business, accomplishments and me! I also have built a reputation as a local celebrity comedian; it feels good when people respond to me with excitement and admiration.

Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?

My father, Larry Featherstone. We have been spiritually connected since I was a young girl. He was already able to see there was something “special” about me even at birth in Stuttgart, Germany. On the day I was born, there was a snowstorm, rain and then sunshine (in April!). He fondly tells people, he knew there would be something different about me. Over the years, he has been a confidant, encourager, problem solver, living example and more to not only me, but our entire family.

“My spirit drives me and when it speaks I listen. I am determined to accomplish my goals and live the life I envision for myself.”

What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?

Being a single parent has definitely had it’s challenges, but I continue to survive and my children and I are living well!

What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?

Racism; unfortunately I may never live to see it end, but I can do what I can to help educate others within my reach!

What keeps you up at night?

Passion is the driving force. My spirit drives me and when it speaks I listen. I am determined to accomplish my goals and live the life I envision for myself.
