Katie Kain

Every child should know someone believes in them. So even though Katie is busy raising kids of her own, she makes time to lead a program for local kids to grow in confidence through music, drama, games and movement.

What makes you feel proud?

My husband and I adopted three kids from a hard situation. I am very proud of how they are doing, and the things they have overcome. They make me proud every day. I am also proud of Center Stage. I love helping kids discover their light and helping them shine on the stage in confidence. They truly light it up!

What keeps you up at night?

The main thing that keeps me up at night is the fear of not doing enough to make a difference. Not pouring myself out enough, not loving as wide and deep as I can.

One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?

I hope to live with less anxiety and more peace and joy.

“I want children to have language to speak up if something is happening in the dark. I want children who have no hope, to know hope and light.”

What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?

I am raising three adopted kids. They are wonderful and worth every second, but raising children is challenging. I always am thinking about what I can do better, or ways I can love them deeper. I also struggle with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder which makes every day life very difficult. It can be exhausting to battle OCD intrusive thoughts.

What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?

I want child abuse to end. I want children to have language to speak up if something is happening in the dark. I want children who have no hope, to know hope and light.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

This too shall pass.
