Chanel Brown

Chanel believes that whether she’s discussing racial injustice, nail polish color or anything in between, it’s important to consider the other person’s position and feelings. That perspective has made all the difference for everyone in her circle.

What makes you feel proud?

Integrity is major to me. I feel proud of being able to leave a job or situation and still have close connections with people in my past. When I engage with a client or co-worker, I feel close to them. When the relationship is no longer circumstantial but we are still in contact, that means so much to me. It makes me proud that so many think of me as genuine.

What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?

The biggest obstacle for me has been trying to find balance and peace between faith and fairness. My family has a huge religious background and while seeing some hypocrisy growing up, it’s taken some time for me to find my voice and balance without losing faith or hope.

“What God has for you, is for you”

What keeps you up at night?

Oh goodness, tackling my to-do list the following day and what I can do to be more productive.

What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?

I am passionate about discussions regarding mediation and racial and gender equality. I also love helping people make sustainable, healthy choices.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

What God has for you, is for you. It helps me to move through my insecurities by knowing that I am exactly where I am supposed to be and that there is something to learn each step of the way.
