Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?

My Dad. He pushes me to be the best at whatever I apply myself to, but also supports me. He inspired my business because he made sure I was not just informed, but interested as a young girl. And I know not every little girl was afforded a dad who did that—who saw her opinion as important.

What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?

I had some serious obstacles in my late teenage years, and some right after graduating college. Without going into too much detail, these events left me with intense self-doubt and feelings of inadequacy. Divorce, family members who were sick, getting fired from my first job were all in the mix... But as many say, these things do make you stronger and more determined at the end of the day.

“You have to live with your life choices, so make sure they’re for you.”

What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?

Apathy and indifference. We have serious issues that are going to take all of us getting involved and caring to really solve like poverty, violence and more. We need to work together to improve life, our home state/city for everyone who lives here and apathy really prevents that from happening.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

To not care about other people’s opinions of your life. At the end of the day, you have to live your life. No one else—not your mom, your best friend, or anyone else with big opinions. You have to live with your life choices, so make sure they’re for you.
