Aly Cunningham

Running restaurants is hard enough, but Aly goes above and beyond by practicing radical servant leadership with her team and giving back to her neighbors in huge ways.

What makes you feel proud?

There’s so much that I’m proud of: my family, my team, the reputation of our restaurants, the safe spaces we’ve created and kept alive in a world that doesn’t always feel so safe.

Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?

I’ve had many wonderful mentors over the years who have changed my life, even saved my life. Having a child has been life-changing. Being a mom has the biggest influence on me right now, and possibly forever and ever after this. Everything comes back to this. I want to not only be the best human for him, but I want to show and teach him what that means. Everything seems second or third when it comes to momhood.

“Give yourself some grace. When you take care of your people, they take care of their people.”

What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?

Overcoming that inner voice of doubt, fear and anxiety. Being proud of who I am, not being afraid to be vulnerable. Learning to not tell myself stories!

One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?

I hope that I’m more confident in my abilities, my challenges and my skin.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Give yourself some grace. When you take care of your people, they take care of their people.
