Vilona Michael

In the midst of an isolated and disconnected culture, Vilona goes against the grain by seeking out opportunities to connect with strangers and make fast friends with those who are different from her.

What makes you feel proud?

I’m proud of the work I’ve created for myself while staying authentic to who my clients are and sharing their stories. Looking back 13 years, I’ve lent a hand in growing a variety of businesses and areas around the city with many teams of people, and that makes me proud.

What keeps you up at night?

Thinking about balancing it all–work life/mom life and taking care of myself. I’ve learned to give myself grace after many years of raising kids and growing a company.

Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?

My kids. In the end, I want them to be proud of their Mom. They each are so strong, dedicated, hardworking, kind and aren’t afraid to try new things. They influence me every day.

What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?

Being a stay-at-home mom for 21 years and counting…raising three kids to the best of my ability knowing I’ve made a million mistakes along the way.

One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?

I hope I’m more myself. As I’m aging, I’m noticing that each year gives you more confidence to become who you are meant to be in this life and the ability to dismiss anyone and anything that doesn’t align with it.

What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?

The feeling of disconnection. I enjoy creating relationships between neighbors, business owners, the city, politicians and everyone in between. It’s remarkable to watch people from different walks of life in the same area come together to collaborate and, in the end, become friends. I encourage people to get to know one stranger a week and I promise sharing your stories will lend to connection and in the end a better world for us all.
