Roxanne Foster
Roxanne left an abusive marriage and totally started over to create the beautiful life she desired. She plans to spend the rest of her life helping others live with intention, too.
What makes you feel proud?
The work I do to make the world a better place, and the attention I give to my children. I am proud of how intentional I am with the majority of my time.
What keeps you up at night?
How the world is inequitable. How there are people keeping others from valuable resources they need. How scary the world might be in a decade when my children are coming of age. I want to die knowing I did my very best, always.
Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?
I actually allow a lot of space for switching out who I need to hear at any given season or point in my life. Glennon Doyle, Elyse Meyers, there are so many big and beautiful voices out there today.
What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?
I was diagnosed with Reactive Arthritis in 2017 and it completely changed the course of my life forever. I live with an invisible, chronic illness, and appear like a perfectly capable person. When in actuality, a lot of things tire me so much faster than “normal” people. My beginning diagnosis and ongoing care have been huge obstacles, but I have found a balance somehow.
One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?
I hope I’m happier. I hope I’m more fulfilled. I hope I’ve smashed some goals, and made lots of fun memories.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Always have an exit plan (strategy).
“I want to die knowing I did my very best, always.”
What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?
Our state’s education needs a complete overhaul, and I’d like to see us setting our children up for future success, not what we’re doing.
