Camille Landry

Camille Landry is a business owner who became passionate about activism back in 1963 when she heard about the Birmingham church bombing. Her entrepreneurship and activism overlap at the bookstore she owns in Oklahoma City. Here’s how she describes her typical day:

My day starts with straightening & dusting bookshelves in my store, Nappy Roots Books, and getting things set up for the store. The best part of my day is getting to meet and talk with the people who walk through our doors. Everyone's story and interests are so different and all are fascinating. I love planning and carrying out the special events that Nappy Roots Books puts on. We offer a variety of activities to serve our community, from virtual seminars to story hours for children, food and book giveaways, art events and gatherings to address the needs of our community.
