Shannon Conner

Things hardly ever end up the way you plan. Shannon knows that well and is open-handed with her experiences to encourage others in the messy middle.

What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?

Ending the cliquey culture within the wellness community.

What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?

Admitting and accepting the need for a change in my professional goals.

Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?

My husband, Andrew. We are college sweethearts, so he has been through it all with me. And for that, I am forever grateful.

“…For a very long time I unknowingly tied my self-worth to my career and it’s future trajectory. In doing so, I created a lot of unhealthy expectations and goals for myself, which resulted in a great deal of shame and unhappiness.”

What makes you feel proud?

How resilient I am. For many years, I pursued my childhood dream of becoming an attorney. However, I was not able to accomplish the final step, passing the bar exam. While it is brutal to be so vulnerable and share that with the world, every time I do, I feel very empowered. Why? Because for a very long time I unknowingly tied my self-worth to my career and it’s future trajectory. In doing so, I created a lot of unhealthy expectations and goals for myself, which resulted in a great deal of shame and unhappiness. Deciding to make a change was T-O-U-G-H. Shout out to therapy. For months, I kept asking myself, “now what?” I had been on this one-track plan for so long, it was a lot to unravel. But then, boom, quite literally one night, it was like the other half of my brain opened and all these ideas poured out, and culminated into a new business track I’m on now.
