What makes you feel proud?
Our “after” stories at barre3 are not all physical. I am so proud when a client shares that the “after” effects of barre3 are the incredible improvements in their mental health and shift in narrative they feel about their body. They feel more at home in their body, they feel less stressed overall, more energetic, more connected and accepting of their bodies.
What keeps you up at night?
Did I do enough today to make someone on my team or a client feel appreciated, seen and heard? How can I elevate the client experience at our studio? I am constantly thinking about the next way to connect our members. I also genuinely love teaching barre3 and am constantly thinking of ways to evolve my class and teaching techniques. The business flows when I am doing what I love which is being in the mix of it all—teaching, operating and even scrubbing toilets.
What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?
Professionally, by far, purchasing a group fitness studio 18 days before a global pandemic. After teaching and leading barre3 studio teams all over the state of Oklahoma for nine years, I took ownership of barre3 OKC 18 days before closing it due to COVID-19. To have survived, overcome and even evolved our studio through that has by far been my biggest obstacle.
What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?
Too many women shame themselves surrounding health or are lonely through letting go of a community because of the global pandemic. Too many women put themselves last and don’t have a fitness home or routine. I hope to not only impact more lives and solve these problems but also shift unhealthy narratives surrounding fitness and bodies.
