Linette Roberts

A defining moment for Linette was her cancer diagnosis. Devastating at first, she got through it with determination, working full time through 16 rounds of chemotherapy and 40 rounds of radiation, always staying active and showing up for those who depend on her.

What makes you feel proud?

I feel extremely proud when I see one of my children or grandchildren accomplish something they have worked very hard for.

What keeps you up at night?

I typically sleep pretty well, because I have a way of unplugging from stress and drama, but dishonesty is a tough one for me. II like to believe people have a good heart and morals.

Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?

I can't say that any one person has been a big influence on me. I think I take pieces from many people I know or admire and strive to be the best person I can be.

What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?

I think the greatest challenge I have encountered was deciding to move me and my children to Oklahoma from California. I couldn't provide them the life they deserved by working two jobs, seven days a week. It was scary to make that big of a change, since we had no family in Oklahoma.

What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?

There are so many things going on in our community these days, but I would love to see the development of new programs to get the homeless drug free, trained and off the streets.

One year from today, how do you hope you’re different?

I would like to think that in another year I will have accomplished some new challenges at work and in my personal life. I would like to get more involved in volunteering.

“I feel extremely proud when I see one of my children or grandchildren accomplish something they have worked very hard for.”

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

The best things in life aren't easy and require sacrifice!
