Glenda Scully

With just one year of junior college under her belt, Glenda worked her way up to management of an oil and gas company. Post-retirement, she’s putting her skills to work volunteering for causes close to her heart.

What makes you feel proud?

My devoted family and friends, solid roots, being grounded in faith and continuing to trust and transition, even when I couldn’t see where I was going.

Who is the biggest influence in your life? Why?

My Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He’s always been faithful and, at this age, I have lots of opportunities to look back and see how He worked in my life.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Love your neighbor as yourself.

“Being all we can be on our own falls pitifully short of what we can be through Him (the Lord)—individually and as a community.”

What’s the single biggest problem you’d like to solve in your community?

So many are trying to live their lives totally absent from the Lord! It didn’t work in the past. It’s not working today. It will not work in the future. Being all we can be on our own falls pitifully short of what we can be through Him—individually and as a community.

What’s been the biggest obstacle in your life so far?

Allowing myself to think, I wasn’t enough (fill in the blank)!
